What Could Have Been

Hi folks and welcome to another Simpsons Sunday. This week I’m going to take a look at a character that if he was around today, could be another antagonist in the series, besides Mr. Burns. I’m talking about Frank Grimes because he was Homer’s enemy, after all and you could say that if he was still an alive character he could be Homer’s Sideshow Bob. What if Frank hadn’t killed himself and realized that he needed safety gloves before touching the high voltage wire that electrocuted him? Would he actually become like Sideshow Bob?

I think so because despite that he told the truth about Homer it would have given the show something else to use as an occasional plot point or genre of episodes. He probably could have been arrested by Chief Wiggum as he was going crazy and put in prison, in a cell next to Sideshow Bob. They could make a great team and find ways to get into the lives of both Homer and Bart, in order to possibly murder them or other nefarious plots against the Simpson family.

I think what happened to Frank Grimes in the episode Homer’s Enemy was great but it is also fun to think about what could have been if Frank waas taken alive as he went nuts, running amok throughout the nuclear plant. Maybe, just maybe him and Sideshow Bob could have made a great tandem in their hatred for both Homer and Bart. Just think of the possibilities that could have been available if my idea had been used.

On a sad note, Leonard Nimoy passed away on Friday at the age of 83. He was of course best known as Mr. Spock on the original Star Trek and also guest starred on the Simpsons, most notably on the season four episode Marge Vs. The Monorail. RIP Mr. Spock.

On the birthday front, former Simpsons Show Runner for Seasons 7 to 9, Bill Oakley turned another year older on Friday. He co-ran the show with Josh Weinstein. They also were responsible for the controversial episode The Principal And The Pauper in Season 9, but they also gave us Homer’s Enemy too, along with Hurricane Nedy and Bart Cells His Soul.

Well, that is all I have for this weeks entry. As usual to end each Simpsons Sunday post, I recommend checking out Chris Ladesma’s blog. He is the Music Editor for The Simpsons and has been since day 1. http://simpsonsmusic500.wordpress.com/author/simpsonsmusic500/ I also recommend checking out Yeardley Smith’s blog at http://gobbingoff.tumblr.com I should also mention Marchez Vous, which is her women’s shoe designer company, which she started earlier in the decade. You can check out their website at http://www.marchesvous.com For some strange reason everyone I know hasn’t heard of them yet. Hopefully I can change that. Additionally, for more news on The Simpsons, you can go to http://news.simpsonswiki.com/ It is new so, give it time to grow. You can also comment here or you can email me at blindgordie@gmail.com and I will reply as soon as I can to all messages I receive. I would much prefer getting an email so I can reply directly to you, but that’s just me. One final thing to mention is that you can follow Simpsons Executive Producer Al Jean on Twitter and his Twitter handle is @AlJean. He has ran the show since Season 13 and has ran it during Seasons 3 and 4. Anyway, that is it for this weeks post. Talk to you again on Weather Wednesday.
