My Top 3 Episodes From 2015

Hi folks and welcome to another Simpsons Sunday. Well, happy 2016 to all of you who are reading this blog for the first time, or as an old vet. I would like to also acknowledge a couple of deaths that my not be important to The Simpsons, but they are significant to the entertainment industry. First, Lemmy, born Ian Fraser Kilmister, whom we know as the constent member and singer song writer of The heavy metal band Motörhead and a member of a band called Hawkwind before forming Motörhead. He was 70 years-old and has worked with a lot of people. He actually wrote one of Ozzy Ozbourne’s most famous songs from the past 25 years, Mama I’m Coming Home from his No More Tears album back in 1991. They also played together with Slash on the Motörhead song I Aint No Nice Guy, which got some play on the radio. Of course, his best known song with Motörhead is the very fast Ace Of Spades, from the album of the same name. Hopefully Lemmy is pouring Jack Daniels for not just himself but everyone else at the bar up in rock ‘n’ roll heaven.

Another death that surprised me was singer Natalie Cole, daughter of Nat King Cole. I remember her pop and soft rock hits, as well as her duet with her father on the track Unforgettable. I heard that she was a nice lady, despite what she had gone through in her life. Both her and Lemmy are surely missed by me because I like them both.

This weeks post is a simple one, in that I will count down my top 3 episodes of 2015. They stand out for me because of call backs to older episodes and such.

Walking Big And Tall is on the list because it has Bart and Lisa teaming up to write an anthem for Springfield. I also like that the kids help out and nobody is bullying anyone during the song.

The Man Who Came To Be Dinner stands out because of how strange the episode is. Yes, Homer gets almost eaten but how many amusement parks can you name, with actual Rocketships as rides? The only one closest to that I can think of is the Ontario Science Center in Toronto, which has a simulated lunar landing module.

Bart’s New Friend is just great because of Homer being hypnotized to have the mind of a 10-year-old. Yes, it was an old script written by Jud Apatow but it was worth the wait for it and my favorite episode from 2015.

What will 2016 bring? Well, Bart will hopefully get a new teacher who will appear more than once. Waylan Smithers will come out to Mr. Burns this year and Homer will vote this year.

Well that’s about it for this Simpsons Sunday post. In the mean time, I recommend checking out Chris Ladesma’s blog. He is the Music Editor for The Simpsons and has been since day 1.
