Otto Man… Dude

Hi folks. Happy Easter and welcome to another Simpsons Sunday post. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the passing of former Toronto Mayor Rob Ford. All I can say is that he was certainly a character and will be missed by many people, I’m sure.

This weeks post is about Otto Man. I like the character and we both share the same taste in Music. Plus, he drives the school bus which Bart and Lisa go on most days during the series to and from school.

One thing I miss is Otto being a friend to Bart. In more recent seasons Bart has actually done stuff to get Otto mad or in trouble. For example: when Metallica were in Springfield and Otto offered them a ride, Bart took off with the bus and after Otto found Bart and gave him a spanking, which got him suspended for the second time in the series.

It’s actually hard to figure out when the transition from Otto the cool dude, to Otto the screw you dude happened. But, I love the earlier seasons when Bart came to Otto for help with his problems and Bart helped him out too. This got me to thinking that the Simpson family could chip in one day, to get Otto an iPod, with all his favourite songs on it. I would also include bands like Slayer, Lamb Of God and Slipknot too. But that’s just my way of thinking about it. I’m sure the writers have their own idea’s on what to do with Otto in the future.

On the birthday front, classic Simpsons writer George Meyer turns another year older today. Also, happy birthday tomorrow to Simpsons Musical Director Alf Clausen.
